Stylists
Kelly McCook Hiers
Kelly knew as a child that she had a desire to help others. She laughed as she said “My poor dolls had their hair washed and styled weekly.” When asked what she wanted to do when she grew up, she would always reply “I wanna go to beauty school.” Little did she know where that dream would take her. Upon graduating from Mary Persons High School in 1998, Kelly attended Cosmoknowledge in Macon, Ga and went on to perfect her skills as a Stylist.
With more that 10 years of experience, Kelly has obtained many certifications including Licensed Master Cosmetologist, Great Lengths Extension Specialist and Holly Doss Cosmetic Make-up Artist to name a few. When asked what the future holds, Kelly replied “My goal is to further my education and always stay up-to-date with the latest styles and trends while maintaining my relationships with my clients, friends, and co-workers.”
Crystal Pastor
Crystal started her career in the beauty industry as a senior in high school. She started working at Merle Norman as a certified Beauty Advisor. Crystal said “it was working their where I really found a love for this industry!” After graduation from Mary Persons High School in 2003, Crystal went on to pursue her cosmetologist license at Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC).
While in school she apprenticed at small salon, perfecting the skills she was being taught. “I became increasingly interested in the art of hair coloring just after graduating from CGTC” says Crystal. With that interest, Crystal attended countless Hair Symposiums and started taking classes from Redken to perfect the art of hair color. Crystal is now a certified Holly Doss make-up artist and is looking forward to working in this area as well. Crystal is genuine when she says “My job is my passion and it makes me come alive; I know that I will be in this industry one way or another for the rest of my career.”
Kip Darden Rochester
Kip knew as a child that deep down she wanted to be a hair stylist. Oddly enough that was not the career path she chose at first. After graduation from Mary Persons High School in 1999 it was not until 2005 that Kip pursued and completed her Cosmetology License. Kip worked at a small salon in Griffin, Ga before joining the team at West Mane Salon in September of 2007. When asked what will be next Kip says “I continue to seek further education focusing in hair color and design.” Kip is now a certified Holly Doss Make-up Consultant, trained by Holly Doss herself. As a stylist, Kip looks forward to the future, “offering the highest quality of service to Monroe County and the surrounding area.”
Josie Pena
Josie was born to style hair. She remembers getting to trouble for cutting off all the hair on her play dolls and using everything from markers to food coloring to “dye” their hair. “Well, 16 years later I am still at it” says Josie. Josie attributes much of her success to salon owner Kelly Hiers. With Kelly’s 13+ years of experience, she took Josie under her wing and helped her learn. “She has taught me a lot of what I know now and helped me to grow as a stylist” says Josie. Commenting on her style, Josie says “I have a flare for bright color and contrary to popular belief love long hair but also enjoy the challenge of a short pixie cut!”
